Join
in the fun of the highly fun and unusual Cow Pattie Bingo at
Old Home Days, hosted by the Hollis Brookline Rotary Club!
In 2011, your chances of winning are twice as good as last
year! The ticket prices are the same, the grid size is the
same, and the $1000 prize is the same, but this year, each ticket
buys you TWO one-square-foot squares —
twice as many as last year, and a MUCH
better deal! And as in past years, you do NOT need to be
present to win.
The mechanics of the game are simple:
- Come to the Rotary Booth at Old Home Days on Sat. Sept. 17
between 10:00am-3:55pm to
purchase your Cow Pattie Bingo tickets, or buy them before Old Home Days
from any Hollis Brookline Rotary Club member
- Players purchase tickets from a batch of 800 sequentially numbered
tickets (half the number of 2010!). (If you buy 10 tickets, you
have a 1-in-80 chance of winning the $1000
— much better than the Lottery!)
- Prices are:
- $5 per ticket, or
- $20 for 5 tickets
- One winning ticket is chosen — by a cow!
- The holder of the winning ticket receives the prize of $1,000
|
The winning ticket selection process:
|
- A fenced portion of Waugaman Field (next to Nichols Field) is marked out
in a 40-foot by 40-foot square
- Each of the 800 tickets buys TWO 1' x 1' squares of the 40 x 40
grid, mathematically randomized (so the squares are very unlikely to
be adjacent to one another)
- If you are curious to find out which randomized squares your ticket(s)
"own," please see the chart at the Rotary Club table at Old Home Days
- On Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at 4:00pm, one or more cows are introduced
onto the grid
- Sooner or later, a cow, by the normal operation of its digestive system,
makes a deposit in one of the squares, thus selecting the winning ticket
number
- If the cow marks the boundary between two or more squares, a panel of
two judges will determine which side of the line has received the greater
amount of the cow’s attention, and that square shall be adjudged the winning
square. This determination made by the judges shall be final. There is no
provision for a split prize or multiple prizes.
- You do NOT need to be present to win

What this fund-raiser supports:
|
- Cow Pattie Bingo, first of all, supports Hollis Old Home Days with a
contribution of $500
- One major beneficiary of the remainder of the proceeds from the game is
the Rotary effort to eliminate polio throughout the world
- All Rotary Clubs, worldwide, are joined in the effort to raise
$200 million — their pledged match for the $355 million that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has contributed
toward this goal
