• You can ride the RE/MAX tethered balloon!  It goes up in the air a short distance, tethered to the ground, and gives you a beautiful view of Hollis.  The RE/MAX tethered balloon will be available on both Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday, Sept. 17 from 5:00pm-7:00pm on both days (weather permitting).  There are no advance reservations for the tethered balloon — it is first come, first served.  The rides continue until the weather interferes or the fuel runs out.  The cost of the RE/MAX tethered balloon is just $5 per person (children and adults), paid as you board the balloon.  Don't miss this exciting attraction!

• For a very special experience, untethered hot air balloons depart at 6:30am on Saturday, September 17 (weather permitting) from the center of Hollis and float high in the air, to land elsewhere.  An expert balloonist rides with you, and a chase vehicle follows your progress from the ground to pick you up where you land.  See Hollis from the air as few have seen it.  This is a ride that you and your family will remember for a lifetime.  The cost of the untethered balloon ride is $200 per passenger.  Advance reservations are required for the untethered balloon rides (see below).  Untethered balloons will inflate and depart from the field on the west side of Depot Road, across from Nichols Field.  Passengers arrive at 6:00am, balloon inflation starts at 6:15am, and balloons depart at 6:30am.  The normal flight time is one hour, but the total experience is about three hours long with balloon inflation, flight, packing up, and returning to the departure point around 9:00am.

Seeing the hot air balloons floating over Hollis in the early hours of the Saturday of Old Home Days is a real treat.  Even if you don't ride, bring the kids to the launch point and take pictures!  See above for balloon inflation and departure times and location.
